Audience
This article is for people managers and supervisors who use Roubler Messaging to send announcements or updates to their team from the web or mobile app.
Description
Messaging (Broadcast Messaging) in Roubler lets authorised users:
- Send one-to-many messages to employees.
- Target specific locations, Specific Positions and/or individuals.
- Mark posts as Important or Pinned and request Read Confirmation.
- Control whether employees can comment or just read.
Your ability to send messages depends on your permissions and whether your company has enabled Messaging.
How to send a message to your team (web)
1. Check you can access Messaging
Before sending a message, make sure:
- Your organisation has enabled Broadcast Messaging.
- Your permission group allows you to post messages, not just view them.
- Your team is using a supported Roubler mobile app/web version so they can read and acknowledge posts.
If you can see the Messages icon/area in Roubler, you’re usually configured correctly.
2. Open the Messages area
- Log in to Roubler web.
Click the Messages / Messaging icon in the header to open your messaging feed.
You’ll see recent posts for locations and teams you have access to.
3. Create a new message
In the Messages area, select New message / + (label may vary).
- Enter a Title/Subject that clearly describes the topic.
- Write the message body:
- Keep it clear and work-related (e.g. roster changes, policy updates, reminders).
Add any links or key instructions staff must follow.
4. Choose who should receive the message
Use the targeting options to select recipients:
- By location / sub-location – to message everyone at a site or department.
- By Specific Position
- By individual employees – for smaller or more sensitive updates.
Messaging respects your location/employee access, so you’ll only be able to target staff you are allowed to see.
5. Set options (Important, Pinned, Read Confirmation, comments)
Depending on your configuration you may see options such as:
- Important – highlight critical announcements (safety, urgent changes).
- Pinned – keep the post at the top of the feed for easier access.
- Read Confirmation – require employees to tap “I’ve read this”; you can later see who has confirmed.
- Allow comments – turn on/off replies for that post.
Choose these according to your internal communication rules.
6. Send the message
- Review the content, audience and options.
- Click Post Message.
Roubler can send push notifications and/or web notifications based on your company’s notification settings, so staff are alerted to new messages.
Track Employee responses in the form of Confirmations, Emoji reactions and comments:
How to send a message from the mobile app (if enabled)
If Messaging is available on mobile (Roubler app v5.5+):
- Open the Roubler app and log in.
- Ensure you have selected your Manager interface and Tap Messages
- Tap New message.
- Enter your title and message text.
- Choose targeting (locations/individuals) and any options (Important, Read Confirmation).
- Tap Send.
Employees will see the post in their mobile Messages feed and (if configured) receive push notifications.
Troubleshooting
1. “I can’t see Messaging or New message.”
- Broadcast Messaging is not enabled for your company.
- Your permission group only allows viewing messages, not posting.
What to do:
- Check with your internal Roubler/system administrator or HR whether Messaging is enabled and whether managers are allowed to post messages.
- Ask them to update your permissions if your role should include posting.
2. “My team isn’t receiving notifications about messages.”
- Notifications are disabled at:
- Company level (Enable notifications off), or
- Device level (staff blocked app/browser notifications).
Manager steps:
- Ask staff to:
- Update their Roubler app to the latest version.
- Check phone/browser notification settings and allow notifications for Roubler.
- Ask your internal Roubler admin to confirm Messaging notifications are enabled in Company Settings.
3. “Employees say they can’t see a message I posted.”
- Confirm you targeted the correct locations and employees.
- Confirm employees:
- Have location access to those sites.
- Are using a supported app/web version and have refreshed the feed.
If only some staff are affected, it’s often a location or permission issue rather than Messaging itself.
